Parkfield man convicted of threating to kill his wife
On Friday, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office said a jury convicted Niles Andre Van Boxtel, 56, of several charges after he threatened to kill his wife during an argument at their home in Parkfield.
Those charges include making a criminal threat, negligent discharge of a firearm, brandishing a firearm, and resisting a peace officer following an incident on Aug. 27, 2011.
District Attorney Dean Flippo said Van Boxtel pointed a gun at his wife as she was getting into her car, firing the gun as she drove off.
During deputies initial response, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said Van Boxtel refused to open a gate on his property and resisted arrest.
Van Boxtel will be sentenced on April 23 and faces a lifetime restriction on owning or possessing firearms.
