Two arrested in large Monterey Bay drug trafficking bust

On Tuesday, drug agents in Santa Cruz County said more than $20,000 worth of heroin was seized during a search warrant at two locations last Thursday.

During a multi-agency search in the 15700 Block of Castroville Boulevard in Castroville and 200 block of Sea Ridge Road in Aptos, two suspects were arrested.

Anthony Whitney, 34, and Jose Martinez, 50, face multiple drug charges and a gun charge, including sales and transportation of a controlled substance.

The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team Narcotics Enforcement Team called this a high level narcotic trafficking operation within the Monterey Bay/Santa Cruz County area.

Investigators said they found approximately 1.2 pounds of heroin, 1.25 ounces of methamphetamine and over $5,200.00 in cash.
