Volunteers needed to oversee new MST money
Monterey-Salinas Transit needs volunteers to be a part of the Measure Q Oversight Committee.
On November 4th Monterey County voters approved the first-ever countywide sales tax measure for public transit, known as Measure Q.
Beginning in July, the increases sales tax will raise $7 million per year to be used solely for services and equipment that support transportation programs for veterans, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. The oversight committee will review and report on the revenue and expenditure of funds from the tax.
Members of this committee will be appointed by the District board of directors, serve up to a three-year term, and will consist of, at minimum, a representative of each of the following:
The Salinas urbanized area, to include a representative from the City of Salinas;
The Seaside- Marina-Monterey urbanized area to include a representative from among the cities of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Seaside, Del Rey Oaks, Sand City, and Marina
The non-urbanized areas to include a representative from among the cities of Gonzales, Greenfield, Soledad, and King City
The County of Monterey, to include a representative from an unincorporated area of Monterey County
A bona fide non-profit organization that represents the interests of taxpayers in the County
The District’s existing mobility advisory committee, to include two members of the mobility advisory committee.
