Fire at La Bahia hotel causes minor damage
A fire at the La Bahia Hotel caused minor damage to an apartment on Friday.
The Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to 215 Beach Street at 1:52 Friday afternoon for reports of flames and smoke coming from the roof.
The fire was an accident caused by a roofing crew using a torch for repairs. No one was injured and the people inside the apartment damaged are being housed by the Seaside Company.
Crews remained on scene for about an hour to check for hot spots. The total damage is estimated at about $40,000.
