Drugs disguised as food near Hollister high school, police say
Hollister police said medical marijuana edibles disguised as “Fruit Loops” cereal and rock candy were allegedly being sold in a church parking lot next to San Benito High School.
The department said Tara Postigo, 18, was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale and delinquency of a minor.
An officer said he responded to a report of suspicious activity in a church parking lot in the 1600 block of Cienega Road. That’s where the officer said he found Postigo, four young adults and two juveniles near a car where drug sales were happening.
During the officer’s investigation, he said he found edibles that were allegedly infused with THC. The officer also said he found packaging that looked like rock candy which was infused with THC or hash oil.
The Hollister Police Department is warning residents about the dangers of edibles disguised as everyday food.
Officers said the juveniles and young adults were released at the scene without any charges.
Postigo was taken to San Benito County Jail.
Hollister police said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on this case is asked to call Officer Juan Guevara at 636-4330.
