Morgan Hill shooting suspect turns himself in to police

Morgan Hill police said the suspect accused of shooting male victim last week turned himself in three days later.

Officers said Emanuel Mendoza, 18, of Morgan Hill is charged with attempted homicide and was booked in the Santa Clara County Jail.

On Feb. 25 around 6:15 p.m., officers said they responded to the shooting near Ciolino Avenue and Monterey Road. That’s where officers said they found a man who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim reported getting into a verbal confrontation with two men when one allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him.

Investigators said they followed leads and identified Mendoza as the primary suspect. Detectives said they tried to contact Mendoza at his home but discovered he wasn’t there.

On Saturday Feb. 28, officers said Mendoza turned himself in at the Morgan Hill Police Department without incident.
