Watsonville police respond to shooting on Grant Street

Watsonville police are responding to a victim of a gunshot wound on Grant Street, not far from the Salvation Army.

Around 4:50 p.m., police sent out a Nixle alert warning residents of police activity in the area of Union Street, Marchant Street and Grant Street. They’re asking people to avoid that area while they investigate.

Watsonville police responded to reports of a fight and when they arrived, they found one victim of a gunshot wound to the upper body in front of a home at 140 Grant Street.

Witnesses say they heard two gun shots.

Police are investigating it as possibly gang-related. No suspect information is available at this time.
