CASA of Monterey County establishes scholarship fund for current an former youth in foster care

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) CASA of Monterey County announced that it has established a scholarship for youth currently or formerly in foster care.

CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, said the goal is to help youth achieve their academic potential and further their futures.

“If you want to change our communities and break the cycle of abuse and neglect, now and for generations to come…invest in a young person’s future.” says Vicki Myers, Executive Director for CASA of Monterey County.

The fund will award renewable scholarships in 2020 of up to $2,000 each. they can be used for university, community college, trade or vocational school education.

Applications are open until March 15 here along with other scholarships.
