Watch: See the 10th Annual Veteran’s Day celebration

Monterey County Veterans Day Parade

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Despite COVID-19 restrictions, the 10th Annual Veterans Day celebration in Salinas will be going on, but held virtually.

The event is set to start at 11 a.m., and it will include highlights from past parades, live interviews and videos submitted by local businesses and organizations.

This year's event is dedicated to former Mayor Joe Gunter.

Organizers will also include interviews with two World War II veterans and a live conversation with a service member who is currently deployed.

“In this unique year, the Veterans Day Parade Committee is committed to celebrating past, present, and future veterans. Though it will be a different type of celebration, the tradition of commemorating the service and the sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country in uniform will continue this year and many more," said parade co-chairman Phil Orozco.

Some of those who will be taking part in the event includes Congressman Jimmy Panetta, Presidio of Monterey, Garrison Commander, Colonel Varman Choeung and Command Sergeant Major Robert Londers.
