Multiple Hollister firefighters test positive for COVID-19

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION) Hollister Mayor Ignacio Velazquez says 8 Hollister firefighters have tested positive for COVID-19.

Several other firefighters are now in isolation, and the department is retesting everyone, according to Velazquez. Only one of the firefighters who tested positive were vaccinated.

The Hollister Fire Department has a total of 44 employees. The rest of the employees will be tested daily.

The San Benito County Health officer is considering a vaccine mandate for employees.
