Newsom, Los Angeles County leaders launch Dodger Stadium vaccination site

CNN 2021

LOS ANGELES (KION) Gov. Gavin Newsom and other Los Angeles County leaders, including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, are launching a COVID-19 vaccination site at Dodger Stadium.

The stadium is one of several mass vaccination sites being set up around the state. Others include Disneyland, Padres Stadium and Cal Expo.

They said during a press conference that the goal is to vaccinate 12,000 people a day at Dodger Stadium, but they do not currently have that many vaccines to give out yet. The goal is for 4,000 people to get a vaccine in Los Angeles Friday.

Officials said that as of Thursday, the state has received just over 3 million doses of vaccines, and they anticipate 100,000 more, but are seeking more clarification about how many doses are in the Federal reserve.

So far, officials say one million people have been tested for COVID-19 at Dodger Stadium so far.
