Monterey County Health Department reports 40th COVID-19 death

UPDATE 8/13/2020 12 p.m. The Monterey County Health Department has reported the county's 40th COVID-19 death.

Based on data reported by the health department, it appears the person was over the age of 54.

UPDATE 8/12/2020 11:30 a.m. The Monterey County Health Department reports that two more people have died of COVID-19.

The agency said both were adults with underlying health conditions.

According to the health department, there are 5,628 confirmed cases in Monterey County, up 134 from Tuesday.

UPDATE 8/11/2020 10 a.m. The Monterey County Health Department reports that two more people have died of COVID-19.

The health department said both were adults with underlying health conditions.

This brings the total number of deaths to 37. So far, there have been nearly 5,500 confirmed cases in Monterey County.

UPDATE 8/6/2020 12 p.m. The Monterey County Health Department reports that another resident has died of COVID-19.

Based on county data, it appears that the person was aged 55 or older.

UPDATE 8/4/2020 10 a.m. The Monterey County Health Department reports that four more residents have died of COVID-19.

Based on data released by the county, it appears that all four were above the age of 55. This brings the total number of deaths up to 34.

Three of the people had underlying health conditions, and the other is still under investigation.

UPDATE 7/29/2020 12 p.m. The Monterey County Health Department reports that two more residents have died of COVID-19.

These deaths bring the total to 26.

The Monterey County Health Department said both people were adults. One of them had a significant medical history, and the other person did not.

UPDATE 7/28/2020 10:30 a.m. The Monterey County Health Department reports that another person has died of COVID-19-related causes.

This death brings the county total up to 24.

Officials say the person who died was an adult with no history of medical issues.

The individual was an adult. It remains unknown if they had any underlying health conditions at this time.

Monterey county now has 4,002 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 2,444 of the approximately 4,000 people diagnosed with the virus have recovered.
