Gov. Gavin Newsom provides update on state’s COVID-19 response

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KION) Gov. Gavin Newsom is providing an update on the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Friday, the state released guidelines for reopening expanded personal care services, including nail salons and tattoo parlors, and those will be allowed to reopen with county approval this coming Friday.

According to the California Department of Public Health, there were nearly 150,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases statewide as of June 13 and 5,063 deaths.
