(KION) The State of California released extended personal service guidance Friday, and it allows more services to reopen statewide on June 19 with county approval.

The services included in the guidance include personal care that requires touching a client's face, such as facials, electrolysis and waxing; esthetician, skin care and cosmetology services; electrology; nail salons; body art professionals, tattoo parlors and piercing shops and massage therapy in non-healthcare settings.

San Benito County officials said Friday that the County Public Health officer still needs to approve the industries before they are allowed to reopen.

Santa Cruz County officials said they are on track to open as the state allows it, so they will be allowed to reopen on June 19.

Monterey County officials are still reviewing the guidelines before approving reopenings.

Esthetician, skin care and cosmetology services

Workers will be required to wear face coverings and disposable gloves will be required throughout the entire service. Before leaving the treatment room, employees will need to remove and dispose of gloves, apply hand sanitizer and wash hands with soap and water before using a paper towel or wipe to open and close the door.

When wax pots are running low or need more to be added, the remaining wax will need to be emptied and the pot cleaned and disinfected before adding new wax.

Electrology services

Electrologists will need to wear face coverings and disposable gloves. Clients having other areas treated will also be required to wear a face covering during the service.

Tweezers, rollers and needle holder caps will need to be cleaned and sterilized between each client, and when possible, employees are asked to use disposable probes that do not require a probe tip or cap.

Needles must be single-use, disposable and pre-packaged.

Nail salons

Workers are asked to consider wearing a face shield for eye protection during services, but will be required to wear a face covering at all times. Customers will also need to wear face coverings throughout the duration of the service.

Pedicure bowls will need to be disinfected with an EPA-registered liquid disinfectant labeled as a bactericide, fungicide and virucide.

They are asked to use disposable supplies whenever possible and consider installing a partition between the worker and client with a space cut out for hands or feet.

Body art professionals, tattoo parlors and piercing shops

Workers and customers will be required to wear face coverings at all times, and workers will be required to wear disposable gloves.

Tattoo and piercing services in the nose and mouth area will need to be suspended, and workers should only provide services for one customer at a time.

Massage services

Clients should be asked to wash their hands before any services, and both workers and customers will be required to wear face coverings.

Guidance suggests that businesses alter treatment table setups to support required cleaning and disinfecting protocols, such as using disposable face cradle covers or protecting the table, table warmers and other items with washable barriers
