MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) The Monterey County Board of Supervisors has extended its eviction moratorium for commercial and residential tenants.

According to Supervisor Luis Alejo, the Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 in favor of the extension.

The county initially put a halt on evictions through May 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it has been extended through July 31.

Tenants are still expected to pay rent, but may not be evicted for failure to pay during that time. It applies to unincorporated areas of Monterey County because cities have their own jurisdiction.
