SEASIDE, Calif. (KION) Two Seaside police officers have been laid off as the city deals with a financial crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Seaside Police Officer's Association tells KION that it proposed a 10% reduction in salary to prevent more layoffs.

The officers who were laid off were part-time reserve officers and not part of the Seaside POA.

Negotiations are underway to prevent more cuts.
