Two more Monterey County residents die of COVID-19

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Monterey County Health Officer Dr. Edward Moreno said two more people have died of COVID-19.

The two additional deaths brings the total in Monterey County to eight.

Moreno said the two were adults with underlying health conditions that put them at greater risk for COVID-19 complications.

Karina Rusk with Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital said one Monterey County resident aged 65 or older died last night at the hospital. In total, SVMH has had 168 positive cases and three deaths.

As of Thursday's report, there were 317 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county and 158 recoveries.
