MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) Planned Parenthood Mar Monte said it is partnering with Monterey County and Monterey Peninsula College to open a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at the school.

The organization said testing is available to everyone at no cost to the patient, and results could be provided as soon as 48 hours after the testing date.

Health insurance information is required because those who are uninsured cannot be tested there at this time. Health insurance plans are required to cover 100% of testing costs without copays or deductables.

Testing days and times are expected to change every week, but for the week of May 18, testing will be done on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Drive-thru testing is available without an appointment at this site, but there will be some paperwork to fill out. To schedule an appointment, email COVID19testing@ppmarmonte.org with your name and two windows of time you are available. Everyone is required to bring a photo ID.

The testing will be done in parking lot D near the Student Services building.

The test being used is a PCR test, which identifies the presence of the virus. It is not an antibody test.
