SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) As part of the Great Plates Delivered program, Santa Cruz County is looking for help from restaurants, caterers and other food businesses to prepare and deliver meals to older residents with a higher COVID-19 risk.

The program is open to adults aged 65 and older and adults aged 60 to 64 who are at high-risk from COVID-19 and are sheltering in place. It is designed to help them by delivering up to three meals a day to help them stay home, but it also allows food providers to maintain operations and staff.

If vendors are interested, they are asked to email eoc032@santacruzcounty.us before Monday at 4 p.m. They will be asked to submit the following information:

  • A brief description of the restaurant or facility.
  • A proposed example of menu to be served to meet the requirements.
  • The average daily cost per person broken down into meal costs, delivery costs and admin costs. The county said reimbursement will be based on a daily cost to provide meal service for each person.
  • Whether the restaurant or facility is willing to donate 6.25% of the meals to count as the local share of cost.
  • A date when service could begin.

Vendors will also be required to meet nutritional, delivery and other requirements. See more details about the program here.
