Hotel rooms for health care workers

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Santa Cruz County is providing hotel rooms to frontline health care workers who have been exposed to or test positive for COVID-19 through a California Office for Emergency Services program.

The county said hotel rooms are available near medical facilities and offered at no charge or at a discounted rate.

The state said five hotels in Santa Cruz County are available for use, but would not specify which specific hotels.

To get a hotel room, participants must meet these requirements:

  • Be an employee of a California health care facility.
  • Have possible exposure to someone who may have COVID-19 documented by a state or county public health official or medical professional.
  • Not have the ability to self-isolate or quarantine at home.

The program is also available to California health corps workers.

To book a room, call the Cal Travel Store at 877-454-8785. Participants will be asked to provide their county and medical facility where they are employed as well as their job title. When checking in, participants will be asked to provide a credit card for incidentals and identification.

Reservations will be given based on proximity and availability.
