SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Several Salinas Police Department employees who were potentially exposed to a coworker who tested positive for coronavirus are returning to work after two weeks in quarantine.

The department said that when the employee tested positive two weeks ago, administration contacted the Health Department and followed guidelines for placing other employees who may have been exposed in quarantine.

The department said no other employees have tested positive for the disease.

Salinas Police Officers Association President Jim Knowlton told KION that a coworker returning from a trip out of state tested positive for COVID-19. He said 14 employees, including five officers, had potentially come into contact with the employee. None of the officers were part of the team patrolling Salinas streets.
