SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION) To reduce the risk of exposing employees to coronavirus, Recology is making temporary changes to its service.

To be serviced, all extra recyclable material needs to be inside the Recology cart.

Effective immediately, cardboard needs to be broken down to fit completely inside the blue recyclables cart, cardboard outside the cart will not be picked up and extra clothes or other textiles must be in a clear plastic bag in the cart.

When you put extra recyclables in your cart, call customer service at 831-636-7500 and they will come back to service your container for free within 48 hours.

San Benito County officials said the service will continue to pick up batteries and used oil jugs and filters in Recology provided receptacles left with your cart.

The changes are in effect until further notice.
