HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION) Three Hollister firefighters went back to work Monday after finishing their time in quarantine.

The firefighters were exposed to coronavirus on March 16 when they responded to a medical call. Medical personnel started surveillance the next day.

After the Fire Department said they showed no signs or symptoms of coronavirus, they were cleared to return to work Sunday. The Fire Chief said they used appropriate personal protective equipment as recommended by the CDC.

The three Hollister firefighters were placed in quarantine after they tried to revive a man who died of coronavirus. It was the first, and so far only, coronavirus death in San Benito County.
