PAICINES, Calif. (KION)

Pinnacles National Park is adding new restrictions that will limit who is able to visit the park during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a release by the National Park Service, Friday, the park will close to all day-use visitors and vehicular traffic. Previous trail, facility and operations closures remain in effect.

The campground however remains open, but reservations are necessary. Starting Saturday, vehicles will be blocked from driving further into the park than the campground. Campers are able to continue into the park by foot and bicycle. Pinnacles says most of the park can be accessed through the Bench Trail.

Park Rangers will still be there to provide emergency assistance. Restrooms remain open and maintained.

"These changes were affected to remain accessible to the public in accordance with the latest federal, state, and local health guidance," the release states.
