SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) The City of Santa Cruz is allowing residents to put out an extra bag of trash for no extra cost.

The city said it is allowing it to reduce contamination in light of coronavirus concerns.

Residents can put the extra bag on top of or next to garbage bins through April 10.

The city also reminds residents that the blue and green carts should only be used for recycling and yard waste.
