CHOMP warns of rising number of COVID-19 cases on Monterey Peninsula

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) The Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula is warning people to take precautions as the number of COVID-19 in Monterey County increases, including on the Peninsula.

According to a daily COVID-19 report shared by Supervisor Chris Lopez, the number of Monterey Peninsula and Big Sur cases has increased from 108 on June 30 to 197 cases as of Tuesday.

The area includes the zip codes 93923, 93933, 93940, 93950, 93955 and other. 103 of the cases are in the 93955 area code, which includes Seaside, Sand City and Marina.

To reduce the spread of the virus, CHOMP recommends washing hands often, not touching your face, practicing social distancing, wearing a face covering, cleaning frequently touched surfaces, avoiding close contact with people who are sick and staying home if you are sick.
