Monterey nursing facility reports positive COVID-19 test was false positive

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 6/4/2020 5:30 p.m. Windsor Monterey Care Center said a resident at the facility who tested positive for COVID-19 was confirmed to be a false positive.

The nursing facility said there was a lab error. All patients and employees have been tested, and the facility said it has not had any positive tests.

The California Department of Public Health's website is not updated every day, but it is expected to change to reflect the test results.

PREVIOUS STORY: Windsor Monterey Care Center confirms with KION that at least one resident has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a report from the California Department of Public Health, fewer than 11 residents tested positive.

Previously, Windsor the Ridge Rehabilitation Center said three residents and an unknown number of employees tested positive for COVID-19 at its facility on Iris Drive in Salinas.
