California unveils website where public can donate life-saving medical supplies
On Saturday Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the launch of a one-stop website to streamline donations or sales of critical supplies needed to fight the novel coronavirus outbreak
In a press conference today, Newsom unveiled the website covid19supplies.ca.gov . It details 13 critical items needed by hospitals and first responders around the state. The items range from ventilators to hand sanitizer.
The goal is to organize what has become an overwhelming outpouring of donations in recent weeks, and also streamline offers to manufacture needed supplies, according to Newsom.
“These actions marshal the generosity and innovative spirit of Californians to help us achieve two essential goals: getting more lifesaving supplies into our health care system and increasing our testing capacity,” Newsom said.
Newsome revealed the website during his daily noon briefing. He says individuals or companies can donate, sell or offer to manufacture the supplies through the site.
