WASHINGTON (AP) — A former military officer who assaulted police officers with a hockey stick and a sharp metal pole during the U.S. Capitol riot has been sentenced to more than three years in prison. Michigan resident Michael Joseph Foy threw the pole at police and struck officers with the hockey stick as a mob of rioters attacked police on Jan. 6, 2021. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan sentenced Foy on Wednesday to three years and four months behind bars. Chutkan oversees former President Donald Trump’s election interference case. Her handling of Capitol riot cases is getting added scrutiny as she prepares to preside over a trial for Trump.
