Cooler With A Side of Wind

ZACH WEATHER

While sturdy summertime high pressure reigns supreme across the Western U.S., a weak trough to the north is helping deepen the marine layer. Its cooling trend began Monday and will continue through today and we’ll also see an increase in low clouds at the coast. The influence of the high will fight back later on in the week with slight warming and suppression of the coastal clouds. Another weak trough will slide by this weekend, again deepening the marine layer, cooling us down a bit, and probably adding some wind into the equation. We’ll also see some high clouds sneak in from the south, but they won’t have much if any impact on our weather.

***GALE WARNING***

… for the near coastal waters of Monterey County from Point Pinos down to Point Piedras Blancas

EXTENDED until 9PM Tuesday.

-Northwest winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40kt and seas 8 to 12 feet at 11 seconds expected.

Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe conditions.
