Very Warm Thursday

ZACH WEATHER

The ridge of high pressure that has brought warm temperatures and dry conditions to our area this week will be at its height over us tomorrow before moving off to the east. Then, a deep trough of low pressure will dig down the coast, ushering cooler air and breezy conditions. Some rain will be possible at the system passes by, but we won’t take a direct impact from it. The rain will most likely come in the form of showers over our mountains Sunday afternoon. High pressure will then rebuild and while mornings will be chilly, highs will return to normal Monday into Tuesday and then above through the rest of the week. Looking into the far future, there are some indications of wetter systems around March 10-12.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and even warmer with highs in the 70s to around 80ºF on the coast and widespread 80s inland.

Overnight: A few high clouds overnight. Seasonable with coastal lows in the 40s, upper 30s to low 40s for inland valleys and 50s up in the hills.

Friday: High clouds will thicken as they move in from the south and while the early portion of the day will be warm, onshore winds will begin to strengthen on the coast. Some low clouds may also return late. Expect coastal highs in the 60s to low 70s with 70s to low 80s inland.

Extended: Saturday will be even cooler with breezy onshore winds—highs mainly in the 50s to low 60s on the coast and 60s inland. A weather system will pass by to our west on Sunday with showers possible over the hills and breezy northwest winds eventually turning more northerly. Monday and Tuesday mornings are expected to be chilly, though afternoon highs will slowly warm through mid-week.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for March 5th-11th calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and near normal precipitation.
