Residents take to Santa Cruz streets as part of global climate strike
Police in Santa Cruz have closed down several streets as residents take part in a global climate strike.
The strike started at around 2:15 Friday afternoon. It began with a march at Wells Fargo on River Street, and the march ended at Cedar Street and Lincoln Street. At that location, there is a festival taking place with speakers, activities and music.
Officers expect the streets to be closed until early evening, but the exact time is still unknown. They are out patrolling to make sure everyone stays safe during the protest.
KION’s Megan Meier will have more from the climate strike at 5 and 6 p.m.
