California Department of Veterans Affairs responds to $6 million cemetery grant

The California Department of Veteran’s Affairs has released a statement in response to a new grant awarded to a Central Coast veterans’ cemetery.

The CalVet Assistant Deputy Secretary for Cemeteries, Mike Magee, wrote in the statement in part, “This cemetery holds a special place for us at CalVet because we worked so closely with the VA and people in the community to build it. This additional federal investment will enable us to expand upon our mission to provide a beautiful resting place to honor those who’ve served.”

Congressman Jimmy Panetta announced the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery was awarded a federal grant totaling 6,417,059.00 from the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration. The grant will be used to expand the cemetery.
