Family looking for burn victim’s missing service dog

A family is searching for a missing German shepherd that they said is a service animal to a burn victim.

The family is looking for Ziggy, who they say helps his owner, 25-year-old Zach Hill, who was burned on more than 50% of his body in an accident four years ago.

Zach Hill’s sister, Amy Hill, reached out to KION and said Ziggy helped her brother recover from a low place and that he is devastated without Ziggy by his side.

Ziggy went missing at around 11 a.m. on Monday when the gate to his owner’s yard was opened near 7th Avenue and Brommer. Amy Hill said Ziggy was last seen on a beach near 7th Avenue.

Amy Hill said Ziggy has a kidney issue and needs special food and a constant supply of fresh water. The family is offering a $500 reward for his safe return.
