Tennessee police warn that flushing drugs could lead to “meth-gators”

A Tennessee police department is warning people about flushing drugs down the toilet, saying they could have an effect on animals in area ponds.

It started with a social media post about a recent arrest. Officers served a search warrant at a home in Loretto, Tennessee, and they say the suspect tried to flush meth and several other items.

After describing the incident, they issued a warning about the dangers of flushing drugs.

They wrote in part, “Folks… please don’t flush your drugs m’kay… Ducks, Geese, and other fowl frequent our treatment ponds, and we shudder to think what one all hyped up on meth would do. Furthermore, if it made it far enough we could create meth-gators in Shoal Creek and the Tennessee River down in North Alabama. They’ve had enough methed up animals the past few weeks without our help.”
