Woman hit and killed by car in Salinas ID’d

UPDATE: 10/22/2018 1:42 p.m. A woman struck and killed by a car earlier this month in Salinas has been identified as 64-year-old Julie Anne Rush.

According to the Salinas Police Department, Rush may have crossed Alisal Street against the traffic light at North Main Street around 7:44 p.m. on October 10 when she was hit.

Further details are still being investigated.

10/11/2018 11:04 a.m. A woman is dead after being hit by a car in Salinas.

Police told KION it happened around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Main Street and Alisal.

According to police, the driver was going 25-mph when he went through a green light and struck the woman in the intersection.

She was taken to the hospital where she died.

Police said the driver remained on scene and is cooperating. Drugs and alcohol don’t appear to be involved.

The woman’s identity is not being released until her family is notified.

The investigation is ongoing.
