Seaside planning commission approves plans for new In-N-Out burger
A new In-N-Out burger is one step closer to coming to Monterey County. On Wednesday, the Seaside planning commission voted to get the project rolling.
Butadditional traffic on Del Monte Boulevard has some residents worried.
“I know I’m probably going to smell burgers and fries for the rest of my time living at this address,” said Thomas Dowson who would live next door to the new In-N-Out burger. He admits the burgers are good, but it’s the heavy traffic on Del Monte Boulevard he’s not looking forward to.
“Just now on our way here it took me 15 to 20 minutes just to get out of the M& S supply store because traffic is that bad,” said Dowson.
The 2.8-acre project is off Highway 1 on Del Monte Boulevard near the Fremont Street intersection. It will feature 53 parking spaces and a drive-thru with enough room for 14 vehicles.
“We found that the project will not have any significant backups given particularly in the queuing, where the drive thru is on the back end of the property,” said senior city planner Rick Medina.
However, residents said they’re expecting a big crowd when the restaurant opens. The community starteda Facebook page in support of an In-N-Out burger – it has over 4,000 likes.
“I think the first couple months are going to be quite hectic and noisy and a lot of calls for service,” said Dowson.
