“It’s horrible, it’s horrendous. You know, there is always options, there is always options. Our (shelter) is a great option in this county, we’re the only open admissions shelter which accepts every animal that comes through our door no questions asked,” Melanie Sobell, with Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter said.
The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter said the pup’s mother, a 6-year-old Chihuahua mix named “Beverly,” has been transferred to SCCAS’s placement partner organization Center for Animal Protection and Education (CAPE) www.capeanimals.org for adoption. She will be placed in a foster home and receive medical tests and treatments. Inquiries to adopt “Beverly” and donations to help with her care can be sent directly to CAPE.
The shelter is hoping that someone will recognize the dog from the photos and call them with tips on who could’ve done this.
