Monterey County Sheriff serve warrants on Carmel High students, bust honey oil lab

Friday the DOJ STING Task Force busted a honey oil extraction lab in Carmel Valley tied to a Carmel High student.

Sheriff’s agents say they have been receiving reports for about a year about drug sales on campus at Carmel High and were working to investigate.

Friday morning the Department of Justice S.T.I.N.G task force including agents from the state, Monterey County, Salinas Police, CHP, and Homeland Security made their move.

Using five drug sniffing dogs, the team served three search warrants, including at Carmel High School.

The other two were at homes on Camp Steffani Road and Buena Vista del Rio in Carmel Valley.

One of those homes revealed marijuana and a honey oil extraction lab. This was the home of the 18-year-old student believed to be selling the drugs at Carmel High.

His father, Richard Steven Tripps, was arrested and at this time the 18-year-old as well as three other juveniles are being questioned.

This case is still on-going, this story will be updated.
