Central Coast assemblymember asks public to submit ideas for state legislation

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Assemblymember Robert Rivas (D-Hollister) is launching a "There Ought to Be a Law" program as a way for community members to submit ideas for state legislation.

Residents of Assembly District 30-- which includes Salinas, southern Monterey County, Big Sur, San Benito County, Watsonville, Gilroy and Morgan Hill-- can submit proposals ranging from new programs to small fixes to existing law that could more effectively meet the needs of the community.

“California faces a number of challenges. Solutions to the issues facing our community should not come from Sacramento alone,” said Rivas. “I know that there are engaged residents in our community who have ideas on how government can work better for Californians.”

Rivas said he has already received suggestions from residents that have let to successful legislation.
