San Benito County officials hold town hall as Fentanyl, opioid overdose deaths increase

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION) In the wake of an increase of Fentanyl and opioid-related overdose deaths locally, the San Benito County Opioid Task Force is holding a town hall to share information and resources.

At the town hall, there will be informational booths, opportunities to ask questions, free Narcan and free medication disposal envelopes, medication storage and sharps containers.

The San Benito County Opioid Task Force said Assemblymember Robert Rivas, representatives from Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, first responders. officials with San Benito County Behavioral Health, treatment providers and community members will give short presentations.

The town hall will be held at Veteran's Hall at 649 San Benito Street in Hollister from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
