Warmer Into Friday
A strong ridge of high pressure will
be maximized over the West Coast on Friday. Warm, dry conditions will prevail.
The next weather system will slide down the coast this weekend. Ahead of it,
winds shift back onshore and will begin to cool the area. However, we’ll see a
rapid switch to offshore winds behind the system on Sunday. Initially, offshore
winds will warm coastal cities, but then more seasonable weather can be
expected for the early part of next week. Some warming expected by late in the
week.
Overnight: Mostly clear with patchy fog
near the coast and adjacent valleys. Expect coastal lows in the 40s with 30s to
low 40s inland.
Friday: Sunny and warm during the early part of the day. Expect
coastal highs in the 60s with 60s to low 70s inland. Winds strengthen onshore
during the afternoon and evening and will bring cooler, foggier conditions to
the coast.
Saturday: Low clouds and fog along
the coast in the morning, becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. Cooler on the
coast with highs in the 50s-60s with 60s to low 70s inland. Breezy at times,
especially on the exposed coast and over the ridgetops.
Extended: Winds shift
offshore on Sunday and may be breezy at times. Coastal areas will warm
initially and then a general cool down can be expected into early next week.
The trend will then be more toward warmer temperatures by the end of the week.
The next two weeks look pretty dry. There are some indications a weather system
will arrive around Valentine’s Day, but it’s a bit far out still.
The outlook from the
Climate Prediction Center for February 14th – 20th calls for the likelihood of
BELOW normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
