Slowly Warming

A strong ridge of high pressure will build in over the region through the end of the week. Temperatures will warm back to normal or above by Friday. The next weather-maker will then slide down the coast this weekend. This will bring a cooler air mass and breezy conditions. Temperatures should even out next week. The next chance of rain is looking closer to Valentine’s Day.


Overnight: Passing high clouds. Some fog possible near the Monterey Peninsula. Expect coastal lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with passing high clouds. Patchy fog possible on the coast, especially late in the day. Warmer, with coastal highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s with widespread 60s inland.

Friday: Mostly sunny and warmer. Highs in the 60s to low 70s.

Extended: Increased onshore flow on Saturday will cool us, but behind Sunday’s cold front, strong offshore winds may actually warm coastal areas. Temperatures looks to stay close to normal early next week.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for February 13th – 19th calls for the likelihood of BELOW normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
